It’s been a hard road, and a lot of people involved with my election advised me, guided me and kept the faith when disappointments accrued. Some of you went way above and beyond, one person woke up and called in for the crucial final vote all the way from Austria at 2 AM local time. Others were voices of calm in a storm. Your faith and trust are humbling, and it will fuel me to do better and be better.
Though I have big shoes to fill, I will perform my new duties to the best of my ability. It’s also my intention to put my time in as a team player within the GOP in whatever capacity or need. I also plan to become more involved in the community via volunteering, and I’ll involve my family. I want to develop within my children a sense of civic responsibility and duty.
Over the course of the election, I was called a variety of things, naïve being among the nicer epitaphs, this is fine, ad hominem attacks don’t bother me. But I do hope sincerely to see a day sooner than later, when the local GOP becomes more agreeable to itself and less fractious. I am new to local politics; I hope never to become a slick politician however, it’s already been made known to me that I’ll have in four years, another election battle on my hands.
Again, to those of you placing faith in me, thank you for your trust and advocacy, I won’t let you down.
